ISLAMABAD β The flight operations of private airline Serene Air have come to a standstill after the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) grounded its entire fleet, citing serious safety violations.
In an official notification, the aviation regulator confirmed that Serene Air failed to maintain minimum operational standards. Shockingly, authorities revealed that the airline does not currently have a single aircraft available for service. The CAA has also ordered the airline to return its Air Operator Certificate, effectively suspending all commercial activities.
The grounding has left passengers stranded both domestically and internationally. Many had booked tickets for upcoming flights, while others remain stuck abroad. The disruption has sparked frustration, with travelers demanding immediate solutions.

Defending its position, Serene Air explained that one of its aircraft was grounded in Saudi Arabia following a bird strike incident. The airline has requested permission to operate special flights to repatriate stranded passengers from Saudi Arabia.
Launched in 2017, Serene Air entered Pakistanβs aviation market with three Boeing 737-800 aircraft. It quickly gained popularity for promising reliability and comfort, and within a year expanded services to international destinations, including Saudi Arabia, the UAE, and China. Domestically, the airline connected major cities such as Lahore, Quetta, Peshawar, Faisalabad, and Multan.
However, the recent grounding raises doubts about the airlineβs future. Aviation experts note that while new carriers often face challenges, failing to meet critical safety and operational standards could severely damage Serene Airβs credibility.
For now, stranded passengers await clarity, while the airlineβs management negotiates with regulators to resume limited operations. The CAA, meanwhile, insists that safety will remain its top priority.
