Lt General (r) Abdul Qayyum, Chief Patron of the China Pakistan Business Forum (CPBF), has called for stronger cooperation between Pakistani and Chinese entrepreneurs to boost trade and investment between the two countries.
He made these remarks during a visit to the Islamabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ICCI) while leading a delegation of Chinese investors, including top business figures from various sectors. The visit aimed to build on the discussions held during Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharifβs recent visit to China and turn them into practical business opportunities.
Abdul Qayyum proposed creating a joint committee of leading entrepreneurs from both countries, led by ICCI, to ensure regular dialogue on trade and investment matters. He emphasized that improved B2B cooperation between Pakistani and Chinese entrepreneurs would benefit both sides and contribute to long-term economic growth.
Welcoming the delegation, ICCI President Sardar Tahir Mehmood said that the Chamber is committed to strengthening Pakistan-China business cooperation through regular interactions. He highlighted that Phase-II of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) focuses on exports, renewable energy, digital economy, mineral development, and youth training. He also mentioned that over 10,000 Pakistani youth will be trained in China to gain advanced technological skills.
Sardar Tahir Mehmood added that ICCI plans to organize an international investment conference to showcase Pakistanβs export and tourism potential. Sheikh Ejaz Asghar, Co-Chairman CPBF, supported the idea and promised participation from more than 100 Chinese companies. He also suggested that ICCI, with support from FPCCI, should lead efforts to establish a modern Expo Center in Islamabad for trade exhibitions.
The visiting Chinese investors expressed their commitment to investing in Pakistanβs industrial and production sectors, creating more job opportunities and supporting sustainable economic growth.
The meeting was attended by ICCI officials, executive members, and several prominent business representatives from both countries.
