The National Productivity Organization (NPO) Pakistan, in collaboration with the Asian Productivity Organization (APO), Tokyo, Japan, has launched the APO International Workshop on βPromoting Productivity through Digitalisation.β The four-day workshop, held from October 6 to 9, 2025, aims to explore how digital technologies can transform productivity across sectors.
The event gathers 19 participants from 12 countries, including Bangladesh, Malaysia, Nepal, Vietnam, and Pakistan. Experts, policymakers, and practitioners from the Asia-Pacific region are participating to exchange ideas and share experiences on digital transformation. The initiative highlights the growing importance of Promoting Productivity through digital innovation and cooperation.
Muhammad Alamgir Chaudhary, CEO of NPO Pakistan, welcomed the participants and the chief guest, Karim Aziz Malik, Chairman of FPCCI Capital Office. He emphasized that digitalization is now a key factor in Promoting Productivity and sustainable growth. He also pointed out challenges such as cybersecurity risks, infrastructure gaps, and environmental concerns. Chaudhary stressed the need for collaborative efforts, strong policy frameworks, and inclusive innovation to ensure that all sectors benefit from digital transformation.
The workshop is led by Tomoyuki Yamada, Programme Officer from APO Tokyo, with support from international experts including Dr. Suraya Sulaiman from Malaysia, Yuichi Ota from Vietnam, and Syed Ahmad from Pakistan. Participants will study real-world case studies on using Artificial Intelligence (AI) and digital tools to enhance efficiency and productivity.
Key themes of the workshop include policies for digital transformation, emerging technologies, organizational change management, and best practices for Promoting Productivity. The goal is to help organizations understand how digitalization can boost efficiency and competitiveness.
The chief guest noted that while digitalization offers vast opportunities, it also brings challenges like cybersecurity threats and inequality in access. He urged governments and organizations to invest in education, technology, and regulatory reforms to ensure balanced growth.
The event concluded with a group photo, marking the beginning of a collaborative exchange of knowledge to advance productivity through digital transformation.
