Pakistani actress Madiha Imam once almost got arrested in Türkiye over fake currency, as she revealed during a recent talk show. The actress shared the funny yet scary story from her first solo international trip, where a simple fruit purchase almost landed her in serious trouble.

Madiha recalled that after finishing a shoot in Türkiye, she decided to buy some fruit from a local street vendor. She paid the vendor with Pakistani currency she had brought along. Moments later, the vendor returned with a police officer, accusing her of trying to pay with fake money.

According to Madiha, she had no idea the note was counterfeit. She explained that the fake note was given to her back in Pakistan and she only used it unknowingly. “I just wanted to buy a plate of fruit,” she said, describing how she panicked as the situation got tense.

At first, she struggled to explain herself to the police due to the language barrier. The misunderstanding could have gotten worse, but a local driver stepped in to help. He translated her story and convinced the police that Madiha was innocent. Eventually, she was allowed to leave without any further trouble.

Reflecting on the incident, Madiha laughed and said that while it was frightening at the time, it later became one of her most memorable travel experiences. She also joked that it taught her to double-check all cash before taking it abroad.
