In one of the largest charitable real estate endowments of 2025, the Endowment and Minorsβ Trust Foundation (Awqaf Dubai) has received a major donation from Emirati businessman and former diplomat Hamad bin Ahmed bin Salem Al Hajri, according to Emarat Al Youm.
The donation includes seven buildings spread across various locations in Dubai, with a total market value of Dh110 million. This generous contribution marks a significant boost to the cityβs growing culture of sustainable philanthropy.
Supporting Community Welfare
The endowment will fund a range of charitable initiatives under Awqaf Dubai, focusing on social and humanitarian development. In the UAE, endowments β known as waqf β enable donors to dedicate assets such as land, buildings, or cash for public or family benefit. These assets are then invested or rented out to provide continuous financial support for various causes, ensuring long-term community impact.
Awqaf Dubai confirmed that the new real estate portfolio will help strengthen financial sustainability for its ongoing projects. Income generated from these properties will go toward programs that assist needy families, education, healthcare, and housing initiatives across Dubai.
Awqaf Dubaiβs Expanding Role
As Dubaiβs official body overseeing endowment assets, Awqaf Dubai continues to expand its social footprint through public-private partnerships. The organization aims to make endowment-based philanthropy a core pillar of community development, promoting a model where charitable giving supports economic stability and welfare.
In recent years, Awqaf Dubai has launched several initiatives encouraging individuals and businesses to create productive endowments that generate sustainable returns for society. The latest donation by Al Hajri reflects growing trust in the foundationβs ability to manage assets transparently and effectively.
This milestone reinforces Dubaiβs commitment to becoming a global leader in modern endowment practices, where innovation meets tradition in serving humanity.
