Dengue Cases Continue To Rise Across Pakistan

The Dengue outbreak in Pakistan is worsening as health authorities report a sharp increase in new cases across several provinces. Officials are urging the public to take preventive measures and remain alert as infections continue to spread.

In Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP), the Health Department confirmed 74 new Dengue cases in the past 24 hours, bringing the total to 3,939. Of these, 23 patients were hospitalized yesterday, while 33 remain under treatment. Two people have died so far this season. The most affected districts include Charsadda with 1,051 cases, Peshawar with 386, Mardan with 343, Haripur with 329, and Mansehra with 299.

Health officials in KP are urging citizens to eliminate mosquito breeding sites, especially stagnant water in homes and streets. They have also advised people to seek medical attention immediately if they develop fever or body aches.

The Dengue situation in other provinces is also concerning. In the Islamabad Capital Territory, 31 new cases were recorded in the last 24 hours β€” 16 from rural areas and 15 from urban zones. Field teams have inspected over 41,000 locations and conducted large-scale fumigation drives.

Punjab has reported 53 new cases in the past day, pushing the total to 2,615. Lahore alone has 492 infections, while Rawalpindi, Multan, and Faisalabad continue to report steady increases. Authorities have checked nearly 6 million buildings, recovered mosquito larvae from thousands of sites, and filed over 4,600 violation cases for non-compliance with anti-dengue measures.

In Sindh, 982 Dengue cases have been confirmed so far this year, with 641 in Karachi and 178 in Hyderabad. The provincial government has established 239 dedicated dengue wards and is offering free testing in public hospitals.

Health experts emphasize that community cooperation, early diagnosis, and cleanliness are crucial to containing the spread. With the mosquito-breeding season still underway, authorities warn that the coming weeks will be critical in controlling the Dengue outbreak.
