Late veteran actor Satish Shah is being fondly remembered for his hilarious and unforgettable performance in Main Hoon Na, following his recent passing at the age of 74. The actor, best known for his portrayal of Professor Rasai in the 2004 Shah Rukh Khan-starrer, had once shared a heartfelt story about filming the movie.
In an old interview that resurfaced after his death, Satish Shah praised Shah Rukh Khan for his professionalism and sense of humor on the set of Main Hoon Na. The actor recalled how difficult it was to shoot the scenes where his character comically sprayed water while speaking.
“It was not easy,” Shah said. “I would take a gulp of water and keep it in my mouth to create the effect. Shah Rukh would laugh, and we’d have to retake the scene again and again. Once, we did eight retakes before I got annoyed. Everyone on set was laughing and falling off their chairs.”
The late actor revealed that he initially refused to accept the role in Main Hoon Na, thinking it was “disgusting,” but Shah Rukh Khan and director Farah Khan convinced him otherwise. “They both flattered me until I agreed,” he recalled with amusement.
The 2004 hit film Main Hoon Na remains one of Bollywood’s most beloved action-comedies. Directed by Farah Khan, the movie also starred Sushmita Sen, Zayed Khan, and Amrita Rao alongside Shah Rukh Khan. Satish Shah’s comical role added a memorable spark to the film’s lighthearted moments, earning him immense appreciation from audiences.
Satish Shah passed away on October 25 due to kidney failure, leaving behind a legacy of timeless performances in film and television. Fans and industry colleagues continue to pay tribute to his talent and contribution to Indian cinema, especially his unforgettable role in Main Hoon Na.
