Trump Says He Averted India-Pakistan Clash With 250% Tariff Warning

Trump Says He Averted India-Pakistan Clash With 250% Tariff Warning

Former U.S. President Donald Trump has claimed that he helped prevent a major military clash between India and Pakistan by threatening both countries with a massive trade penalty. He stated that he warned leaders in New Delhi and Islamabad that the United States would impose a 250% tariff if the situation did not calm down immediately.

Speaking at an international conference, Trump said there had been a dangerous escalation, adding that several aircraft were reportedly shot down during the standoff. He explained that he contacted Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the Pakistani leadership directly, urging both sides to pull back before the crisis worsened.

Trump says he averted India-Pakistan clash with 250% tariff warning by making it clear that trade would be halted if fighting continued. According to him, the economic pressure worked and the two nuclear-armed neighbours agreed to de-escalate.

However, India has rejected Trump’s claim, saying that the ceasefire decision was reached independently through established communication channels. Indian officials stressed that no foreign mediation was involved in resolving the border tensions.

Pakistan, on the other hand, has previously welcomed international involvement in peace efforts and has expressed appreciation for U.S. diplomatic engagement regarding regional stability.

Analysts say Trump’s statement reflects his focus on using trade as leverage in global diplomacy. They note that this new claim places him again at the center of a major geopolitical moment, highlighting his narrative of being a tough negotiator on the world stage.

Critics argue the remarks may complicate ongoing relationships between the United States and key partners in South Asia. Some experts warn that publicizing such claims during sensitive diplomatic times can create confusion or mistrust.

Despite the political reactions, Trump continues to maintain that his tariff warning was decisive in stopping the confrontation. Trump says he averted India-Pakistan clash with 250% tariff warning, emphasizing that economic threats can be more powerful than military action.

The remark has stirred fresh debate and raised questions about the true extent of American involvement in preventing conflict between India and Pakistan.
