The Punjab Emergency Service Department (Rescue 1122) Murree has issued a special advisory ahead of the winter season, warning residents and tourists to remain cautious as severe weather conditions are expected in the coming days.
According to a Rescue 1122 spokesperson, all rescue stations and control points in Murree and Kotli Sattian will remain on high alert 24 hours a day under the Emergency Core Plan. The department is preparing for heavy rain, hailstorms, and snowfall forecast by the Pakistan Meteorological Department.
The Met Office has predicted rain, thunderstorms, and strong winds in several areas, including Murree, Galiyat, Attock District, Chakwal, Talagang, and Jhelum. The severe weather is expected between November 3 and November 5 as western winds move into northern parts of the country.
Rescue 1122 has deployed trained personnel equipped with ambulances, rescue vehicles, and life-saving gear. The department has also established 24-hour emergency camp points at key locations for public assistance.
Officials have warned that winter conditions in Murree often lead to road accidents caused by slippery surfaces and poor visibility. The public has been advised to avoid unnecessary travel, ensure vehicles have snow chains and sufficient fuel, and call the Rescue 1122 helpline in case of an emergency.
The spokesperson further emphasized that safety precautions are crucial to avoid mishaps during heavy snowfall and extreme cold. Tourists planning to visit Murree during the season are urged to stay updated on weather forecasts and follow official travel advisories.
Authorities have reiterated their commitment to public safety, urging everyone to cooperate with rescue teams and follow road and weather warnings to ensure a safe winter experience.
