Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi met with Graeme Biggar, Director General of the United Kingdomโs National Crime Agency (NCA), in Islamabad on Thursday to deepen cooperation in key security and law enforcement areas, including extradition.
The meeting was attended by British High Commissioner Jane Marriott, along with senior officials from NACTA, NCCIA, the National Forensic Agency, and Islamabad Police. Both sides discussed ways to deepen cooperation in counter-terrorism, narcotics control, immigration, and police training.
Officials also agreed to strengthen joint efforts in combating human trafficking and online child exploitation. The two sides decided to finalize five new Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) soon, covering extradition and other areas of collaboration.
During the talks, Graeme Biggar expressed condolences over the recent suicide attack in Islamabad and condemned the act of violence. He praised Pakistanโs continued commitment to counter-terrorism and pledged the NCAโs support to strengthen security ties with the Government of Pakistan.
Minister Mohsin Naqvi reaffirmed Pakistanโs determination to root out terrorism. He noted that โthe roots of terrorism are linked to our neighboring country,โ emphasizing the need for global recognition of Pakistanโs resilience and sacrifices.
Naqvi also highlighted the importance of modern forensic tools and professional training to improve law enforcement capabilities. He said Pakistan was working closely with the UK to address illegal immigration and related security challenges.
Both parties agreed to deepen cooperation in areas such as forensic sciences, police training, and anti-narcotics operations. Graeme Biggar acknowledged Pakistanโs strong efforts in combating drug trafficking and assured continued collaboration through the NCA.
The meeting underscored a shared commitment by Pakistan and the United Kingdom to enhance coordination, strengthen institutional ties, and promote mutual security objectives in the years ahead.
