RAWALPINDI โ The National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA) has arrested two suspects involved in a major financial fraud scheme targeting Senator Falak Naz.
Officials said one of the suspects impersonated the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Shaukat Khanum Hospital and contacted Senator Falak Naz via WhatsApp. The suspect allegedly deceived the senator into transferring Rs485,500. A second individual reportedly assisted in executing the scam and managing the fraudulent communications.
Following the complaint, the NCCIA conducted a raid in District Bahawalnagar. Both suspects, identified as Muhammad Nadeem and Asad Falak, residents of Basti Gamey Wala S, were apprehended and taken into custody. Authorities confirmed that further investigation is ongoing to uncover additional accomplices involved in the scam.
A formal case has been registered under FIR No. 308/2025, citing sections 14, 34, 109, 419, and 420 of the Pakistan Penal Code. These sections cover offenses including impersonation, cheating, criminal conspiracy, and related fraudulent activities.
The NCCIA emphasized that impersonating officials from reputable institutions like Shaukat Khanum Hospital is a serious crime and warned the public to verify contacts before transferring any money. Interrogation of the suspects is ongoing, and authorities aim to map the full operation of the fraud network.
This incident highlights the rising trend of cybercrime and financial frauds targeting high-profile individuals. The agency is working diligently to identify all persons involved and prevent further scams.
Senator Falak Naz expressed gratitude to the NCCIA for the swift action and urged citizens to stay cautious of similar fraudulent schemes. Meanwhile, Shaukat Khanum Hospital clarified that no official from the hospital contacted the senator, reaffirming the importance of awareness against impersonation scams.
