The Federal Authority for Government Human Resources made the announcement. Both December 2 and 3 are official holidays. They honor the country’s union in 1971. December 5 falls on a Friday. Combined with Thursday, it creates a four-day break for most workers.

Official Holiday Dates

  • Tuesday, December 2 – Commemoration Day and National Day
  • Wednesday, December 3 – National Day
  • Thursday, December 4 – Regular weekend (for five-day work week)
  • Friday, December 5 – Weekend day

Private sector employees get the same days off. The Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation confirmed the dates. Work resumes on Saturday, December 6 for most offices.

Events Across the Emirates

Every emirate will host fireworks, parades, and cultural shows. Dubai plans a big display at Burj Park and The Beach, JBR. Abu Dhabi will light up the Corniche. Sharjah, Ajman, Ras Al Khaimah, Fujairah, and Umm Al Quwain also prepare large events.

Air shows, traditional dances, and car parades are common. Malls and hotels offer special deals. Many venues extend opening hours during the break.

Schools close from December 1 to December 5. Some private schools may add extra days. Parents welcome the long break before the winter holidays.

Travel and Staycation Boom

Travel agents report high demand. Short flights to Oman, Georgia, and Azerbaijan are popular. Domestic hotels in Ras Al Khaimah, Fujairah, and Al Ain are almost full. Many families choose staycations to enjoy the festive mood at home.

Roads will be busy from Monday evening. Authorities advise early travel to avoid traffic.
