NADRA Introduces Online Car Ownership Transfer In Islamabad

The National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) has launched a new facility for citizens, allowing online car ownership transfers for vehicles registered in Islamabad. This service enables residents to complete most steps digitally from home, making the process faster and more convenient.

Under the new system, both sellers and buyers can perform biometric verification using NADRAโ€™s Pak ID mobile app. The process begins by downloading the app, registering an account, and logging in. Users can then access โ€œApply Digital Cardsโ€ on the home screen and select โ€œICT Vehicleโ€ to view all vehicles registered under their name. The seller selects the vehicle, taps โ€œTransfer Now,โ€ and completes facial verification using the front or back camera.

Next, fingerprint authentication is performed, after which the application details screen appears. The seller enters the buyerโ€™s CNIC number, selects the application processing category, and checks the displayed fee. Once submitted, a Tracking ID and PIN are generated and shared with the buyer.

The buyer logs into the Pak ID app, selects โ€œVehicle Transferโ€ under Government Services, and enters the Tracking ID and PIN. They then complete their own facial and fingerprint verification. After successful verification, the seller can see the updated application status.

Upon approval, the โ€œPay Nowโ€ option becomes available, allowing payment through EasyPaisa, Raast, E-Sahulat, JazzCash, or debit/credit card. Once the payment is completed, the biometric receipt can be downloaded from the ID Vault under โ€œVehicle Transferโ€ in the โ€œMy Documentsโ€ folder.

Finally, the buyer submits the biometric receipt and required documents to the Excise and Taxation Office in Islamabad to complete the transfer.

NADRAโ€™s new facility marks a significant step in digitizing government services, making it easier for citizens to handle online car transfers without visiting offices. Officials hope this system will reduce queues, save time, and prevent errors in vehicle ownership documentation.

With growing demand for digital services, the online car transfer feature is expected to become a preferred method for Islamabad residents, promoting transparency and efficiency in vehicle transactions.
