Abdullah Shafique, a Pakistani opening hitter, has carved his name in red-ball cricket history by accomplishing an outstanding milestone.
Shafique became the fourth fastest Pakistani player to 1,000 Test runs during the first match of the two-match Test series against Sri Lanka at Galle.
Shafique has achieved this achievement in his 24th innings, trailing only Saeed Ahmed, Sadiq Mohammad, Javed Miandad, and Taufeeq Umar.
Saeed Ahmed still holds the record for the quickest Pakistani hitter to score 1,000 runs in a Test, having done so in just 20 innings
Sadiq Mohammad, another former batting great, demonstrated his batting brilliance during the 1970s by scoring 1,000 Test runs in 22 innings.
By reaching this milestone in 23 innings, Javed Miandad, a great batsman and former captain, cemented his status as one of the country’s cricketing icons.
Abdullah Shafique’s rise to the 1000-run club in only 24 innings, sharing fourth place with Taufeeq Umar, demonstrates his inherent skill and unwavering determination.
