A week after the brutal incident in Sanghar where a cruel landlord amputated a camel’s leg for grazing in fields, another case of animal cruelty has emerged. In Kunri tehsil, a second camel was found dead with all four legs amputated.
The incident sparked outrage on social media. The first camel was transported to Karachi for treatment and fitted with a prosthetic leg, and six individuals involved were arrested.

The second incident occurred near Umerkot in Sindh. Abdul Rashid, the camel’s owner, expressed reluctance to assign blame, mentioning he owns around 3 dozen camels. He explained that all the camels returned after grazing except for the one found alone the next day, injured and with severed legs. Rashid expressed uncertainty about the perpetrators and plans for next steps.
The viral video clip showed the animal covered in blood, highlighting the severity of the cruelty.
Such acts of animal cruelty are punishable under Pakistan’s Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act of 1890, which prohibits mistreatment including beating, overdriving, and mutilation.
