The heavy rains sweeping across Balochistan have resulted in significant casualties and injuries, with reports indicating at least 9 casualties and numerous injuries. The provincial capital, Quetta, along with other parts of the region, experienced heavy downpours, leading to widespread flooding and the declaration of a state of emergency by the Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA).

The torrential rains have disrupted various essential services, including train services to Iran and communication networks, exacerbating the challenges faced by the residents. Gas and electricity shortages have added to the difficulties, with basic services remaining suspended in many areas. The flooded streets have severely affected commuting, particularly for those reliant on public transportation. Authorities are actively working to restore gas and electricity services to alleviate the situation and prevent further issues for the public.

The Meteorological Office has issued warnings of further heavy rainfall, which could result in flash flooding in local nullahs (streams) of Ketch and Panjgur. Additionally, snowfall may disrupt traffic in the northern parts of Balochistan.

Areas expected to be affected by rain, windstorms, and snowfall include Quetta, Ziarat, Chaman, Pishin, Kalat, Zhob, Shirani, Barkhan, Musa Khel, Kohlu, Qila Abdullah, Qila Saifullah, Lasbella, Gwadar, Jiwani, Khuzdar, Chagai, Noshki, Washuk, Mastung, Sabi, Naseerabad, Jhal Magsi, and Loralai. Isolated heavy falls are anticipated during this period, according to the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) report.
