Australia Assures Support for Pakistan's Socio-Economic Development

Australian High Commissioner to Pakistan Neil Hawkins met with Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb at the Finance Division to discuss bilateral matters and strengthen the enduring relations between Pakistan and Australia.

Minister Aurangzeb emphasized the longstanding mutual relations between the two countries, underscoring Pakistan’s high regard for its relationship with Australia. He stressed the importance of collaborative efforts to further enhance bilateral relations, particularly in economic cooperation and trade.

The finance minister also highlighted the government’s commitment to privatize various State-Owned Enterprises (SOEs) and briefed the High Commissioner on potential investments from Saudi Arabia and Qatar. He emphasized the importance of focusing on the second phase of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) for economic development.

In turn, the Australian High Commissioner briefed the minister on the Australian government’s engagements with Agriculture Universities in Pakistan, aimed at boosting production in the agriculture and livestock sectors. He reiterated Australia’s continued support for Pakistan’s socio-economic development.
