Babar Azam Credits Mother for Century Against Islamabad United

Babar Azam

Babar Azam attributed his stunning century against Islamabad United to the presence of his mother in the stands, stating that her attendance served as a source of inspiration for his exceptional performance.

The cricket maestro expressed that it was his mother’s first time attending one of his matches, and her presence brought him good luck, resulting in his remarkable century at the Gaddafi Stadium against Islamabad United.

Babar Azam achieved his 11th T20 century during the fifth match of PSL 9, leading Peshawar Zalmi to victory by 8 runs. Arif Yaqoob’s exceptional performance in the penultimate over, where he claimed four wickets, played a significant role in securing the win for the team.

During a post-match press conference, Babar Azam shared, “My mother came to watch for the first time. She’s very happy. She enjoyed it. She always watches at home but she proved to be a source of good luck for me. She came to watch the match and I scored a hundred.”

Following a challenging start to the PSL campaign with losses against Quetta Gladiators and Karachi Kings, Peshawar Zalmi has regained momentum with three consecutive wins. Babar Azam’s stellar form, combined with improved team coordination and the added charm of his mother’s presence, has contributed to the team’s resurgence.

As the Yellow Storm continues to surge, Peshawar Zalmi will face the struggling Lahore Qalandars in their next match at the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium.
