Gold prices declined in Pakistan on Wednesday after remaining unchanged for two consecutive days. The latest Gold Price movement also followed a decline in the international bullion market.
According to the All Pakistan Gems and Jewellers Sarafa Association, 24-karat gold became cheaper by Rs. 3,700 per tola. Following the decline, the price of 24-karat gold reached Rs. 458,236 per tola.
The price of 10 grams of 24-karat gold also moved lower during the day. It declined by Rs. 3,172 to settle at Rs. 392,863.
Silver prices also recorded a decrease in the local market. The price of silver fell by Rs. 186 per tola, bringing the new rate to Rs. 6,800.
The decline in Pakistan came as international gold prices also moved lower. Gold in the international market was reported down by $37 at $4,358 per ounce.
However, the global bullion market remained volatile during trading. According to Reuters, spot gold later recovered to around $4,359.58 per ounce.
The recovery came as US Treasury yields eased, providing some support to the precious metal. Investors were also waiting for minutes from the US Federal Reserve’s July meeting.
The minutes could provide further indications about the central bank’s future interest-rate policy. Global monetary policy expectations often influence demand for gold and other precious metals.
The Gold Price in Pakistan has experienced significant fluctuations during August. On August 12, gold had climbed to Rs. 463,936 per tola in the domestic market.
However, the price dropped to Rs. 460,436 per tola the following day. The latest decline has now pushed the rate further down to Rs. 458,236 per tola.
Despite the recent decreases, gold remains near historically high levels in Pakistan. Market participants continue to monitor several domestic and international factors affecting bullion prices.
US economic data and expectations surrounding interest rates remain important factors for international gold markets. Movements in US Treasury yields can also influence investor demand for the precious metal.
Geopolitical developments are another important factor because gold is widely considered a safe-haven asset. Changes in international bullion rates can also affect the Gold Price in Pakistan.
The latest Rs. 3,700 decline may provide some relief to buyers in the domestic market. However, continued global volatility means prices could remain sensitive to economic and geopolitical developments.
