Pakistan’s Seafood Boom: $153M Exports to China in Just 9 Months!

Pakistan’s Seafood Boom $153M Exports to China in Just 9 Months!

Pakistan’s seafood exports to China have seen significant growth during the first nine months of 2025. According to China’s General Administration of Customs (GACC), the total exports reached $153 million, up from $121.93 million during the same period last year. This steady rise reflects Pakistan’s expanding role in the Chinese seafood market.

Experts attribute the growth to several factors, including improved cold chain logistics, enhanced certification systems, and stronger cooperation under the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC). These improvements have made Pakistani seafood more competitive and accessible to Chinese consumers.

Among the key export categories, frozen fish exports jumped to $40.10 million from $30.19 million last year. Frozen cuttlefish exports also increased to $20.29 million, while frozen crab exports rose to $25.68 million, surpassing last year’s total of $22.65 million.

Pakistan seafood exports of frozen sardines, sardinella, sprats, and brisling also recorded remarkable growth. These gains have helped Pakistan become the largest supplier of these products to China, surpassing competitors like Russia and Indonesia.

Trade officials highlighted that the quarterly increase demonstrates the growing diversity and competitiveness of Pakistan seafood in international markets. The efficient “green channel” clearance system at Chinese airports ensures that seafood reaches consumers within 48 hours, preserving its freshness and quality.

The surge in exports also underscores the potential of Pakistan’s fisheries sector. With rising demand in China, the sector is poised for further growth, offering opportunities for local fishermen and exporters. Analysts say continued investment in processing, logistics, and quality standards will help maintain Pakistan seafood’s leading position in the Chinese market.

The strong performance in the first nine months of 2025 reflects Pakistan’s commitment to improving trade relations and meeting global standards. As Pakistan seafood continues to gain popularity, experts anticipate record-breaking exports by the end of the year.
