An official from the Harda district hospital in central Madhya Pradesh state disclosed, on condition of anonymity, that the death toll stood at seven, with 65 injured individuals receiving treatment at their facility. An additional 10 individuals with severe injuries were referred to a larger hospital for advanced care.

Senior district official Kailash Chand Parte, overseeing rescue operations at the factory, informed that approximately 15 fire brigades were engaged in combating the intense blaze. He stated that about 70 to 75 individuals with varying degrees of injuries had been rescued and transported to nearby government hospitals.
With an estimated workforce of 200 to 300 individuals at the factory, the exact number of people present during the explosion remained unclear. Parte noted significant damage to at least 10 surrounding buildings due to the explosion’s force.
Despite ongoing efforts, the blaze remained uncontained, with numerous firefighting teams and rescue personnel deployed at the scene. Tragically, explosions in illicit firecracker facilities are not uncommon in India.
Expressing grief over the incident, Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav termed the reports of the explosion as “very sad news” and instructed burn units at nearby major hospitals to prepare for potential influxes of casualties. Additional ambulances were swiftly dispatched to the area, with Yadav also reaching out to the army to arrange helicopter assistance for evacuation efforts.
