ECP Declares Public Holiday on February 8th

The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has declared a public holiday on February 8, the day of the general elections in the country. The announcement includes the closure of all workplaces, offices, and educational institutions, both public and private.

The decision is aimed at encouraging a positive voter turnout on polling day, which is scheduled to begin at 8 am and end at 6 pm. The ECP has also released details of the polling setup, with 90,675 polling stations established nationwide.

To enhance accessibility, the ECP has introduced a WhatsApp helpline, allowing citizens, including those with speech and hearing impairments, to submit complaints through video messages.

Alternative channels for lodging complaints include email and a dedicated helpline, ensuring multiple avenues for communication during the electoral process. Control rooms have been set up at various levels to handle the registration and resolution of complaints.
