26 Million Pakistani Students to Receive Google Education

Through its country partner Tech Valley, Google will collaborate with the Pakistani government to:

  • Assemble over 500,000 Chromebooks locally by 2026
  • Provide digital tools and resources to students and teachers
  • Train teachers in effective technology use in classrooms
  • Develop and implement innovative technology-driven learning programs

This initiative will particularly target out-of-school children in Pakistan. Last month, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif declared an “education emergency” to address the issue of over 26 million children being out of school. He committed to a national program to re-enroll these children and urged provincial governments to support this effort.

As part of the partnership, Allied, an Australian manufacturer of Google Chromebooks, will set up an assembly line in Pakistan to produce Chromebooks locally, making them more affordable for educational use. The goal is to ensure that every student has access to advanced classroom technology, enhancing their learning experience.

Ultimately, the collaboration between Google and the Ministry of Federal Education aims to drive a comprehensive digital transformation of Pakistan’s education system, creating smart classrooms and a robust learning environment. The partners will focus on empowering educators and students through upskilling, training, and establishing flexible smart classrooms.
