Punjab University

The Punjab University has announced a major increase in academic fees across various programs. The revised fee structure includes hikes of up to 59% and will take effect from this month.

According to the university administration, the decision was approved by the syndicate. The new fees apply to several undergraduate and postgraduate programmes.

The highest fee hike has been recorded in the LLM program. Students will now pay Rs 7,825 more compared to last year, marking a 59% rise.

For D Pharmacy students, the fee has jumped from Rs 18,000 to Rs 23,000. This increase will directly impact those enrolled in medical-related courses.

Fees for other degree programs such as BSc, BCom, BBA, and MBA have also been revised. These programs will now see a 15% increase in tuition costs.

Law students will also face higher expenses. The LLB program has seen a 28% fee hike under the new structure.

Medical diploma courses have not been spared either. These programs now cost 16% more than they did last year.

The PU administration said the increase was necessary to meet rising operational costs and improve educational facilities.

Officials claim the decision aligns with policies adopted by other major public universities across the country. According to reports, the average rise in fees for public institutions now stands at 28%.

However, the announcement has sparked concern among students and parents. Many fear that rising educational costs will make it harder for low-income students to continue their studies.

Students from middle and lower-middle class families are expected to be most affected by the fee hikes. Some have already voiced their concerns on social media.

No statement has yet been made regarding the availability of additional scholarships or financial aid to support affected students.

The new fee structure is expected to apply to both new and continuing students, although exact details may vary by department.

As the changes roll out, students are advised to check the official university website for updated fee schedules and payment deadlines.

Students affected by Punjab University’s fee hike are also awaiting their Matric results. Check the BISE Lahore 10th Class Matric Results 2025 set to be announced on July 24.
