Fertilizer Companies Hike DAP Prices by Up to Rs. 510 Per Bag

The price of diammonium phosphate (DAP) in Pakistan has seen an increase, with major fertilizer companies raising the prices by up to Rs. 510 per bag.

According to Waqas Ghani, Deputy Head of Research at JS Global, the price hikes range from Rs. 240 to Rs. 510 per bag. FFC and FFBL are now selling DAP at Rs. 12,600 per bag and Rs. 12,658 per bag, respectively. EFERT’s DAP price stands at Rs. 12,595 per bag, and Fatima’s Sarsabz DAP is priced at Rs. 12,403 per bag.

This price adjustment coincides with the beginning of wheat cultivation, and Pakistan has set a historic production target of 32.2 million tons for Rabi 2023-24. In the context of agriculture, fertilizer is a significant cost factor and accounts for a substantial portion of the per maund (unit of weight) price at the farm gate.

While DAP prices in Punjab were relatively low and sometimes sold at or below the officially notified prices due to lower demand, they have started to stabilize due to increased demand associated with the wheat cultivation season.

It’s important to note that any fluctuations in fertilizer prices can have a direct impact on farmers’ expenses, and the stability of prices for critical inputs like DAP is closely watched in the agriculture sector.
