Former Cricketer Set for Key Role in Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB)

Younis Khan, a prominent figure in the Pakistan men’s cricket team, is poised to take on a significant role in the development of the junior team. In a recent meeting with Zaka Ashraf, the Chairperson of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Management Committee (MC), discussions were held regarding Khan’s potential involvement. However, both Khan and Ashraf are currently overseas, and the details of their talks are yet to be finalized.

As Pakistan’s most successful Test-match batter, Khan accumulated an impressive record over his 17-year Test career, amassing 10,099 runs at an average of 52.05, including 34 centuries. Notably, he achieved a career-best score of 313 runs against Sri Lanka at the National Stadium, Karachi, in 2009.

Khan’s main focus will be on nurturing and refining young talent. Additionally, sources indicate that another accomplished batter, Mohammad Yousaf, is slated to oversee the U-19 cricket team.

The Pakistan U-19 team is scheduled to participate in the 2023 ACC U19 Asia Cup in the United Arab Emirates, commencing on December 8, 2023.

Sohail Tanvir, a fast bowler, has already been appointed as the chief selector for the national junior cricket team. He will be responsible for announcing the squad for both the U19 Asia Cup and the 2024 ICC U19 World Cup in Sri Lanka, starting on January 13, 2024.
