Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Syeda Shehrbano Naqvi has achieved a historic milestone by becoming the first female police officer from Pakistan to be selected for the prestigious Asia 21 Next Generation Fellowship.
The announcement came after the Asia Society revealed its latest cohort, which included 30 exceptional leaders from 27 countries. According to a Punjab Police spokesperson, Naqviβs selection highlights her dedication to protecting vulnerable communities and driving systemic change in Pakistanβs policing system.
Naqvi was chosen as part of the Class of 2025, a recognition reserved for leaders who show remarkable commitment to social impact.
The fellows will gather at the Asia 21 Next Generation Summit in Manila, Philippines, scheduled from December 5 to 7, 2025. During the event, participants will share ideas and present practical solutions to pressing regional and global challenges.
Punjab Inspector General of Police (IGP) Dr. Usman Anwar praised Shehrbano Naqvi, calling her achievement a proud moment for Pakistan. He emphasized that her recognition not only brings global honor to the Punjab Police but also showcases the growing role of women in shaping law enforcement across the country.
Naqvi first rose to national prominence in March 2024 when she courageously intervened to rescue a woman from an angry mob in Ichhra, Lahore. The incident, which involved a misunderstanding over clothes bearing Urdu script, earned her widespread respect and the prestigious Quaid-e-Azam Medal for valour.
Since then, she has been entrusted with multiple key roles within the police force, all of which she has carried out with determination and competence.
Her inclusion in the Asia 21 network is seen as a landmark achievement that will enhance Pakistanβs presence in global leadership circles. Shehrbano Naqviβs selection stands as an inspiration for women in law enforcement and a reminder of the positive impact dedicated individuals can have on society.
