The Safe Cities Authority has announced major improvements to the e-challan system to make managing traffic challans easier for citizens. The updated system allows users to view, review, and pay fines directly on their mobile phones.
Previously, citizens had to send emails for corrections or inquiries regarding their traffic challans. This outdated process has now been discontinued, officials said.
Under the new system, all e-challans will be sent directly to mobile numbers registered in the Excise Departmentβs database via WhatsApp. Citizens can view the total number of challans issued against them along with images captured by traffic cameras.
A secure payment link will also be provided through WhatsApp. This feature enables users to pay fines quickly, eliminating the need to visit offices or use complex payment methods.
In addition to mobile updates, the Safe Cities website has been upgraded. A new βReviewβ button has been added next to each traffic challan, allowing users to submit correction requests online. The technical team will review submissions and, if valid, cancel incorrect challans immediately.
Officials said these upgrades aim to make the traffic challans system more transparent and user-friendly. Citizens still have the option to pay fines through the official Safe Cities website, which offers multiple payment methods for convenience.
The initiative reflects the governmentβs efforts to digitize traffic management and reduce delays for the public. Authorities hope that the upgraded system will improve compliance and make the process of handling traffic challans faster and more efficient.
With these improvements, citizens can now manage their fines with ease and avoid unnecessary complications, ensuring a smoother traffic enforcement process across the city.
