Unmarried Couples Banned from Naran? Authorities Deny Viral Claim

A recent social media post sparked confusion by alleging that unmarried couples were being denied entry into Naran, a popular tourist destination in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. The viral claim suggested that police officers at checkpoints were demanding marriage certificates from couples before allowing them to enter the scenic valley.

Images accompanying the posts showed a fake signboard that read, β€œNaran: Marriage certificate required for entry.” The picture spread rapidly across social media, gaining thousands of views, shares, and comments. Many users expressed disbelief, while others criticized what they saw as an invasion of privacy.

However, officials quickly dismissed the rumors. District Police Officer (DPO) Shafiullah Gandapur called the reports β€œcompletely misleading” and clarified that Naran remains open to all visitors. He emphasized that no such restriction exists and that all tourists, whether married or unmarried, are welcome to visit.

The Mansehra Police also addressed the viral posts through their official Facebook page, confirming that the signboard and the alleged marriage certificate requirement were fabricated. Authorities explained that the police only conduct standard vehicle inspections for security purposes and not to check anyone’s marital status.

Local administration further stated that no official directive or policy had ever been issued to restrict entry based on marital status. They urged citizens to verify information before sharing it online, warning that spreading false news can mislead the public and harm tourism in the region.

In conclusion, the circulating claims about unmarried couples being denied entry into Naran are baseless. Authorities have urged the public to ignore such misinformation and to follow updates only from verified and official sources. The valley continues to welcome tourists from across Pakistan and beyond, maintaining its reputation as one of the country’s most beautiful destinations.
