Seminary Teacher Arrested in Rawalpindi for Brutally Beating Student Over Unmemorized Lesson

RAWALPINDI – A teacher arrested in the Kallar Syedan area of Rawalpindi has been accused of brutally beating a young student for failing to memorize his Quranic lesson at a private religious school.

The incident gained public attention after a disturbing video went viral on social media, showing the teacher arrested violently assaulting a minor student. The footage quickly sparked outrage among citizens, prompting police action.

According to officials, the police verified the authenticity of the video before registering a case at the Kallar Syedan Police Station. The First Information Report (FIR) was filed by police constable Kamran Yaqoob, who stated that he came across the video while on duty in the area.

Investigations revealed that the assault took place at a private school in Kallar Syedan, where the victim, identified as Arman Asif, was enrolled in the Hifz (Quran memorization) program. The teacher arrested, identified as Qari Akash, reportedly attacked the child after he failed to recite his lesson correctly.

The FIR confirmed that corporal punishment in schools is strictly prohibited under Punjab law. Authorities stated that the accused, Muhammad Akash, had violated these legal provisions by physically assaulting the student.

Police confirmed that the teacher arrested has been taken into custody, and further investigations are underway. Officials assured that strict legal action will be taken in accordance with child protection and education laws.

The incident has reignited public debate about corporal punishment and the lack of accountability in some private and religious institutions. Child rights activists have urged the government to ensure the enforcement of existing laws that protect students from physical and emotional abuse in schools.
