ISLAMABAD – A shocking case has emerged from Pakistan’s capital, where a woman was allegedly gang-raped by two men inside the Centaurus Shopping Mall after being lured with the promise of a job.
According to police, the incident took place earlier this week. A case has been registered at the Margalla Police Station under Section 376 of the Pakistan Penal Code (PPC). The suspects have been identified as Faisal Jalal and Syed Hafeezullah, both of whom are currently under investigation.
In her statement to the police, the victim claimed that the two men contacted her regarding a job opportunity. Believing their offer, she went to meet them at the mall. However, once inside, the men allegedly overpowered her and gang-raped her.
The woman further stated that when she tried to resist, the accused physically assaulted her. In an attempt to escape, she locked herself inside a room, but the suspects broke the door and continued the assault. She also said that the men threatened her with dire consequences if she reported the crime.
Police officials confirmed that a formal complaint has been lodged and an investigation has been launched. Authorities are collecting CCTV footage and other evidence from the mall to trace the suspects’ movements.
Law enforcement agencies have pledged to ensure that justice is served and the perpetrators are brought to trial. The case has once again raised serious questions about women’s safety in public spaces and the rising number of assault incidents in the country.
Officials have urged citizens to remain cautious about job offers from unknown individuals and to report any suspicious activity to the police immediately.
