Hunza Valley Achieves Landmark as Asia’s First Plastic-Free Zone

The enchanting Hunza Valley has now become Pakistan’s inaugural plastic-free area and district.

“As of now, Hunza district proudly holds the status of a plastic-free zone, and remarkably, Hunza Valley has emerged as the first district in all of Asia to completely eliminate plastic bags,” affirmed Aslam. He lauded the people of Hunza for their diligent efforts in enforcing this ban and expressed his hope that their collaboration with the administration will ensure the city remains pristine, devoid of plastic bags.

Hunza Valley Becomes Asia's First Plastic-Free Zone

Under the newly implemented law, the use of plastic bags in Hunza is now a punishable offense. As part of this eco-conscious endeavor, approximately 10,000 cloth bags were distributed during a special ceremony held in Altit Hunza, further reinforcing the valley’s commitment to a plastic-free future.
