India posted a target of 182 runs, thanks to a stellar 53-run knock by Suryakumar Yadav. Additional contributions came from Virat Kohli (24), Rishabh Pant (20), Shreyas Iyer (10), and Hardik Pandya (32), posing a tough challenge for Afghanistan.

Afghanistan struggled to maintain the required run rate, losing wickets regularly. They scored 134 runs in their 20 overs, with Mujeeb Ur Rahman and Rashid Khan contributing early on. Key performances from Asghar Afghan (26), Gulbadin Naib (17), and Najibullah Zadran (19) were not enough to reach the target.
India’s bowling was spearheaded by Deepak Chahar and Bhuvneshwar Kumar, each taking three wickets, with support from Kuldeep Yadav (2) and Ravindra Jadeja (1), effectively limiting Afghanistan’s scoring chances.
Both teams were playing their first match in the Super 8 stage, with India remaining undefeated. In another Super 8 match on Thursday, England claimed an 8-wicket victory over the West Indies.
