JI Chief Urges Rejection of Traditional Parties and Promises Change in Election Rally

Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) chief Sirajul Haq, during an election rally at Rawalpindi’s Liaqat Bagh, urged people to reject traditional parties like PML-N and PPP in the upcoming general elections. He promised to struggle for the freedom of Kashmiris, Palestinians, and Dr Aafia Siddiqui if the JI is elected to power.

Haq criticized PML-N and PPP for their alleged failure to bring significant progress despite ruling the country multiple times. He likened the ongoing verbal duel between the former ruling parties to scripted wrestling, stating that February 8 will bring an end to corruption, ignorance, poverty, and lawlessness.

Haq questioned Pakistan’s current state despite its abundant resources and talented youth, blaming PPP and PML-N for the country’s economic challenges. He accused the traditional parties of burdening the country with trillions of rupees in debt and claimed that voting for them means voting for the International Monetary Fund (IMF).

Haq predicted that corruption would increase if these parties come to power, reaching Rs10,000 billion per year. He reminded the people of controversial decisions made during Nawaz Sharif’s rule, including handing over Aimal Kansi to the US and executing Mumtaz Hussain Qadri, who assassinated Punjab former governor Salman Taseer in 2011.
