Julian Sands, a British actor, was discovered dead more than five months after he went missing while hiking on Mount Baldy in California’s San Gabriel Mountains.

Sands, an ardent adventurer, went missing in January, according to reports. Rescuers utilised a helicopter and a drone to conduct a ground search, which was subsequently halted owing to weather and avalanches.

Hikers discovered human remains in the region where Sands had gone missing on June 24. The San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department confirmed on June 27 that the remains were conclusively identified as Sands’, although the cause of death is still being investigated.

After portraying George Emerson, Sands shared the screen with Helena Bonham Carter as Lucy Honeychurch.

Following the popularity of A Room With a View, Sands featured in a number of films, including Gothic (1986) and Warlock (1989), in which he played the English Romantic poet Percy Bysshe Shelley. Sands played the witch again in Warlock: The Armageddon (1993), Siesta (1987), Boxing Helena (1993), Dr. James Atherton in Arachnophobia (1990), the 19th-century composer Franz Liszt in Impromptu (1991), King Louis XIV of France in Vatel (2000), The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo” (2011), and The Killing Fields.
