Bollywood superstar Amitabh Bachchan met fans outside his Mumbai residence, Jalsa, on Sunday under increased security following a reported bomb threat. The veteran actor continued his regular Sunday tradition, greeting supporters from behind a bulletproof glass shield.
The gathering took place outside his home in Juhu, where fans regularly assemble to see the legendary actor. Security personnel stayed close to Bachchan throughout the appearance. His son, actor Abhishek Bachchan, was also present behind him.
The additional security measures followed a threatening email reportedly sent to Mumbai Mayor Ritu Tawde. The message named several locations across the city, including Bachchan’s residence, the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) headquarters and the venue of singer Diljit Dosanjh’s upcoming concert.
According to media reports citing police officials, the email was sent to Mayor Ritu Tawde and Deputy Mayor Sanjay Ghadi. It reportedly threatened an explosion at the mayor’s office inside the BMC headquarters at 3:11 pm.
Police carried out a search of the premises but found no suspicious objects. The threatening message also mentioned several schools in Mumbai and warned of a possible grenade attack on October 31.
Amitabh Bachchan’s Juhu residence, known as Jalsa, was reportedly named as a potential target between October 31 and November 27. Authorities began investigating the email to identify its sender and assess the seriousness of the threats.
The message also referred to Diljit Dosanjh’s scheduled concert at Mahalaxmi Racecourse on November 27. According to reports, the sender threatened a possible attack during the event and included references to Khalistan.
However, these claims were part of the threatening communication and do not confirm that an actual attack was planned. Authorities have not reported evidence establishing the sender’s allegations as genuine.
Following the security alert, Mumbai Police and other agencies increased checks at locations mentioned in the email. The mayor’s office, educational institutions and Mahalaxmi Racecourse were among the sites covered by precautionary security arrangements.
Officials searched the BMC headquarters and reported that nothing suspicious had been found. Security personnel also increased surveillance to address potential risks and protect the public.
Amitabh Bachchan’s Sunday appearances outside Jalsa have been a familiar tradition for many years. Fans regularly gather outside his residence to catch a glimpse of the actor and greet him during his weekly appearance.
His latest interaction attracted additional attention because of the visible security arrangements. The bulletproof shield and presence of security personnel reflected the precautions taken following the reported threat.
