BTS Star Suga Pledges $3.6 Million to Open Autism Treatment Center

BTS member Suga has made a meaningful return to public life by donating ₩5 billion (around $3.6 million) to create a specialized treatment facility for children with autism.

The centre, named the Min Yoon Gi Treatment Center (after Suga’s real name), will be established at Yonsei Severance Hospital. It will focus on providing comprehensive care for children and adolescents with autism spectrum disorder, offering services such as speech therapy, psychological counseling, and behavioral interventions. The facility will also serve as a research hub, aiming to improve treatment methods through clinical studies.

The donation was publicly announced on June 23, just two days after Suga completed his mandatory military service on June 21, becoming the final BTS member to finish enlistment. The news has been met with widespread praise from both fans and healthcare professionals.

Suga began working on the project in late 2024, following discussions with Professor Chun Geun Ah, head of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry. Their partnership led to the development of the MIND program—standing for Music, Interaction, Network, and Diversity—which uses music as a therapeutic tool to improve social interaction and inclusivity for neurodiverse children.

In addition to medical care, the centre aims to break social stigma surrounding autism and promote public awareness. Through outreach and education, it hopes to build a more inclusive society where children on the autism spectrum can lead fulfilling, independent lives.

The announcement has not only strengthened Suga’s philanthropic image but has also reignited excitement among ARMYs, as BTS’s full group reunion grows nearer with all members having now completed military service.
