Indian cricketer Yuzvendra Chahal and choreographer Dhanashree Verma have officially ended their marriage, finalizing their divorce on March 20, 2025. The couple, who tied the knot in December 2020, had been living separately for months amid growing speculation about their split.
According to journalist Vickey Lalwani, one of the primary reasons behind their separation was a disagreement over relocating from Haryana to Mumbai. While Dhanashree wished to move permanently to Mumbai, Chahal was unwilling to leave his family home. Their differing personalities further contributed to their strained relationship.

Legal proceedings were expedited as both parties filed for divorce in Mumbai. The Bandra Family Court granted their request for an exemption from the six-month cooling-off period due to Chahal’s upcoming IPL commitments. His lawyer confirmed that the court officially dissolved their marriage just before the cricketer’s schedule resumed.
The divorce settlement reportedly includes an alimony payment from Chahal to Dhanashree. Meanwhile, social media has been abuzz with reactions, with a viral post labeling Dhanashree a “gold digger” gaining attention. Ritika Sajdeh, wife of Rohit Sharma, also appeared to have liked the post, adding to the controversy.
