Pakistani fashion designer and actor Deepak Perwani stirred controversy with comments comparing life in India and Pakistan, drawing sharp reactions on social media.
In a recent interview, Perwani shared his impressions from a visit to India, praising its infrastructure and freedoms, particularly for women. He highlighted how Indian women enjoy greater mobility, such as walking freely, riding bicycles, and driving motorbikes—freedoms he feels are less prevalent in Pakistan.

Perwani also pointed out advancements in India’s urban systems, noting that even rickshaw drivers use Uber and street vendors accept digital payments. He contrasted this with Karachi, criticizing its poor pedestrian facilities and lack of infrastructure.
His remarks split public opinion. Critics called him unpatriotic, with one user saying, “He should move to India if he likes it so much.” Others defended his observations, emphasizing the importance of constructive criticism for Pakistan’s progress.
