Singer-turned-actor Diljit Dosanjh has reportedly been removed from the upcoming war drama Border 2, following the controversy surrounding his film Sardaar Ji 3, which features Pakistani actress Hania Aamir. According to a source quoted by India Today, the filmmakers believe that, since Border 2 centers around the Indian Army, Diljit’s continued involvement could undermine the film’s impact and message.
The source explained, “Because Border 2 highlights the Indian Army, the team felt Diljit wasn’t the right fit amidst the ongoing backlash. They didn’t want the controversy to affect the film’s narrative or promotional campaign. Plans are in place to re-shoot his portions soon.”

Reports suggest that Punjabi actor Ammy Virk is being considered as Diljit’s replacement. However, there has been no official confirmation from the production team yet.
BN Tiwari, President of the Federation of Western India Cine Employees (FWICE), said they haven’t received formal communication about Diljit’s removal but added, “This is the only logical step. If the filmmakers continue working with him, it would appear as if they support the controversy.”
T-Series and producer Nidhi Dutta have not yet responded to inquiries regarding the development. Earlier, FWICE had also issued strong objections, urging the producers to reconsider casting Diljit.
Notably, Diljit had recently shared a behind-the-scenes video from Border 2 on Instagram, where he was seen receiving a warm welcome on set. A group photo with the entire cast was also shared by the makers at the time.
Directed as a sequel to the 1997 patriotic blockbuster Border, the new installment stars Sunny Deol, Varun Dhawan, and Ahan Shetty, and is slated for a grand release on Republic Day weekend — January 23, 2026.
