Diljit Faces Ban in India Over Film With Hania Amir

Hania Amir

Punjabi singer-actor Diljit Dosanjh is facing a potential ban from the Indian film industry over his latest project Sardaar Ji 3, which stars Pakistani actress Hania Aamir. The move comes amid heightened India-Pakistan tensions following the deadly Pahalgam attack and India’s military response, Operation Sindoor.

The Federation of Western India Cine Employees (FWICE) announced plans to prohibit Diljit and the film’s producers from releasing any future projects in India. “There is no room for artists working against national interests,” said FWICE President BN Tiwari, calling it a matter of national integrity.

Diljit had already declared that Sardaar Ji 3 would be released “OVERSEAS Only” in a social media post dated June 22. The film’s trailer, featuring Hania Aamir as a ghost hunter, has been geo-blocked in India, further fuelling outrage over the casting of Pakistani talent during a sensitive time.

FWICE warned that repeated collaborations with Pakistani artists will lead to severe industry consequences. The fallout may also jeopardize Diljit’s upcoming Bollywood venture Border 2, which now faces an uncertain future.
