In a bizarre and disturbing medical case, a 33-year-old man in China was rushed to the hospital with severe stomach pain—only for doctors to find a live eel inside his abdominal cavity during emergency surgery.

The man, from Hunan, arrived at the First Affiliated Hospital of Hunan Medical University with intense abdominal pain, excessive sweating, and a pale face. A CT scan revealed a foreign object that had punctured his stomach, prompting fears of life-threatening peritonitis.

To the surgeons’ shock, a live, foot-long eel was discovered swimming freely among his organs. The eel had completely penetrated the intestinal wall, forcing doctors to remove it immediately to prevent a deadly infection.

The surgical team safely extracted the eel and repaired the damage, after which the man recovered and was discharged. However, how the eel entered his body remains a mystery—though the internet had its own colorful theories.
