“Charli XCX to Perform at LACMA’s Art + Film Gala Honoring Baz Luhrmann and Simone Leigh”

The LACMA Art + Film Gala is poised to be a spectacular affair this year, with Charli XCX headlining the prestigious event. Taking place on November 2 at the Los Angeles County Museum of Art, the gala will honor acclaimed filmmaker Baz Luhrmann and celebrated artist Simone Leigh for their significant contributions to their fields.

Charli XCX, renowned for her dynamic performances and hit singles, is set to deliver an unforgettable musical experience, adding to the gala’s star-studded allure. As a key highlight of the social season, the Art + Film Gala attracts Hollywood’s elite and leading figures from media, fashion, and the arts.

The event, co-chaired by Eva Chow and Leonardo DiCaprio and presented by Gucci, celebrates artistic excellence. Michael Govan, LACMA CEO and Wallis Annenberg Director, lauded Simone Leigh as “one of the most captivating and important voices in contemporary art,” praising her work for its innovative blend of artistic traditions and focus on Black femme subjects. He also commended Baz Luhrmann for his imaginative and passionate contributions to cinema over the past three decades.

Currently, LACMA and the California African American Museum (CAAM) are hosting “Simone Leigh,” the artist’s most comprehensive West Coast exhibition to date, which runs until January 20, 2025.
