The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has ramped up its efforts against tax evaders, with famous fashion designer Nomi Ansari now under investigation.
According to local media reports, the Corporate Tax Office (CTO) Karachi has filed an FIR against Ansari for allegedly evading 1.25 billion rupees in sales tax. Ansari, a prominent name in the fashion world, faces potential arrest upon his return from abroad, and will be brought before the Customs and Taxation Court for further legal proceedings.

The investigation began after the CTO Karachi received intelligence about possible tax evasion, leading to a detailed probe that uncovered strong evidence linking Ansari to the sales tax fraud.
In response, the FBR swiftly acted by obtaining search warrants to raid Ansari’s factory and several outlets across Karachi to seize relevant records.
This isn’t the first time Ansari has come under FBR scrutiny. Earlier this year, in February, the CTO Karachi had sealed his factory and various outlets due to violations concerning sales tax and non-compliance with Point of Sale (POS) integration regulations.
Authorities are continuing their investigation and are committed to ensuring that those involved in tax fraud are held accountable.
