The Zindagi original series Barzakh, featuring Fawad Khan and Sanam Saeed in leading roles, has been nominated for Best Drama Series at the Asian Academy Creative Awards 2024.

Translating to “Limboland” in English, the series will compete with entries from 13 other countries in this category at the prestigious event’s grand finale. Other nominated shows from India in various categories include Heeramandi, Railway Men, and Panchayat.

Set against the stunning backdrop of the Hunza Valley, Barzakh explores the life of a 76-year-old man who stuns his estranged family by announcing his engagement to the ghost of his first love. Directed by Asim Abbasi, this Pakistani fantasy drama delves into themes of love, loss, and family dynamics. It premiered worldwide on Zindagi’s YouTube and ZEE5 on July 19.

In response to this milestone, Abbasi expressed that the nomination is a testament to the hard work and passion of the entire team. “Writing and directing this show was one of the most surreal experiences. I am incredibly grateful for the dedication of the exceptional cast and crew, whose unwavering commitment brought this story to life,” he stated.
