Fireball Disaster Hits SpaceX Rocket During Ground Test

SpaceX

A SpaceX Starship prototype erupted into a massive fireball during a late-night test in Texas, dealing another blow to Elon Musk’s ambitious Mars-bound rocket program.

The explosion occurred during a static fire test at Starbase, with video footage showing a sudden flash before the Starship 36 vehicle burst into flames while attached to its launch tower. Thankfully, no injuries were reported.

SpaceX called it a “major anomaly,” while Musk dismissed it on social media as “just a scratch.” The test was meant to prepare for the rocket’s 10th flight, possibly later this month — now facing potential delays.

This marks yet another setback for the Starship program, which has seen several failed flights this year alone. Still, SpaceX continues to push forward with its “fail fast, learn fast” approach.
