Friends of Israel claimed Afridi supported them, but Afridi expressed disbelief at the backlash and urged people not to trust everything online. He explained on social media that he was simply taking a selfie with what he thought were fans in Manchester, and the photo was shared with misleading captions.
He lamented the suffering of innocent lives in Palestine and clarified that the photo does not reflect any support for actions endangering lives.
