Actor Hamza Ali Abbasi speaks out to clarify his position after media reports linked him to a money laundering case. The case involves his sister, Dr Fazeela Abbasi.
In a statement shared on Instagram on March 28, Abbasi said the coverage had created a misleading impression. “I am not under investigation by any agency, nor am I part of this case in any capacity,” he wrote, emphasizing his detachment from the legal matter.
Abbasi also highlighted his support for his sister while maintaining that her professional and legal issues are entirely separate from him. “My sister is a highly accomplished professional with her own extremely successful career. I stand by her with love and support,” he said, urging the public and media to respect the distinction.
He further warned media outlets against continuing to link his name to the case. Abbasi noted that repeated misreporting could lead to legal action if such coverage continues.
The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) registered the case against Dr Fazeela Abbasi. Two separate investigations are ongoing: one by the Commercial Banking Circle and another by the Anti-Corruption Wing. Both cases involve alleged money laundering and operation of an unregistered clinic.
According to FIA officials, millions in foreign currency were reportedly transferred abroad through bank accounts not fully declared in tax filings. Discrepancies in financial records and insufficient documentation for certain amounts were also noted. Abbasi speaks out’ to assure the public that he is uninvolved and confident that justice will be served.
