Hania Aamir, Diljit Dosanjh’s ‘Sardaar Ji 3’ Opens to Housefull Shows in Pakistan

Despite skipping a theatrical release in India, the much-anticipated horror-comedy Sardaar Ji 3 featuring Pakistani star Hania Aamir and Punjabi sensation Diljit Dosanjh has opened to packed cinemas across Pakistan. The film marks Hania Aamir’s Punjabi cinema debut and her first major cross-border collaboration, which has received an enthusiastic response from fans in her home country.

The film’s release comes amid controversy and boycott calls targeting the cast and crew for featuring a Pakistani actress. However, that hasn’t deterred local audiences, who turned up in large numbers for the opening shows, making it an instant hit in Pakistan. Fans of both Hania and Diljit were eager to see the duo reunite on screen following their viral joint appearance at a London stage show last year.

Directed by Amar Hundal and also starring Neeru Bajwa, Jasmin Bajwa, and Gulshan Grover, Sardaar Ji 3 was released globally on June 27—excluding India—after the Film Federation of Western Indian Cinema (FWIC) reimposed a ban on Pakistani artists. The move followed the tragic Pahalgam terror attack in April, which claimed over two dozen lives and escalated regional tensions.

Producers opted for a broad international release, and the film’s success in Pakistan may signal growing demand for cross-border cultural collaborations, even amid political sensitivities.
