Renowned Pakistani actress Hania Aamir has been appointed as the new National Goodwill Ambassador for UN Women Pakistan, marking a major step in her advocacy journey. Second Pakistani to Hold the Title
With this appointment, Hania Aamir becomes the second Pakistani National Goodwill Ambassador for UN Women Pakistan after Muniba Mazari, who was named in 2015. She joins a distinguished group of South Asian ambassadors, including Indian celebrities Farhan Akhtar and Sania Mirza. Globally, the list features Emma Watson, Nicole Kidman, and Anne Hathaway, who have long been advocates for women’s rights and empowerment.
Continuing UN Women’s Mission in Pakistan
UN Women Pakistan has been actively supporting women in the country through several initiatives, especially during times of crisis. Following the recent floods, the organization set up Women Safe Spaces in affected regions. These centers provide counseling, legal aid, and childcare support to women and families in need.
